2013 is coming to his end. Also the end of the harvesting of the lily and gladiolus bulbs is in sight. Millions of bulbs have arrived at the Bot Company. Trucks drive back and forth, forklifts loading and unloading the trucks. Everyone is committed 200% to handle all the bulbs. The inspector controls the incoming bulbs. Then they are rinsed, disinfected, packed and stored. So you can see the whole Bot company is very busy.

Under Construction

With Augustus just behind us we look at the month September. Also in September, we are not sitting still at Bot Flowerbulbs. Everyday more trucks come and go, It is becoming busier and busier. Today they started with the construction of our new greenhouse with a total floor area of 1000m2. With this new greenhouse we have even more space for the Dutch Lily Days. The August birth flower is the Gladiolus

The August birth flower is the Gladiolus. The name Gladiolus has Latin roots and comes from the Latin word 'Gladius', which means a sword. Hence, the August birth flower is also called sword lily.

Apart from this, it's also referred to as...poppy or gladiola. It symbolizes strength of character and sincerity. It also signifies remembrance, dedication and devotion towards family. The hidden message of the Gladiolus, was Love at First Sight during the Victorian era. It is often gifted during Friendship Day and on Senior Citizen's Day (August 8). They come in different colours, like pink, red, white, yellow and orange. The people with Gladiolus as their birth flower are believed to be charming and enthusiastic. They are very intellectual and fight hard for success. August-born people often desire to be leaders in their respective fields. (Sorce: India Times)

Visiting Vietnam

Last week a salesman from Bot Flowerbulbs (Rene Beerepoot) went for a business trip to Vietnam. On the photos he has taken is to see how they grow lilies overthere.

Visiting Guatemala

One of the salesmanagers from Bot Flowerbulbs (Marko Knol) went on a trip to Guatemala where he visits a few of our customers. Yesterday he sent some pictures which we of course share with you.

Last Saturday the first iris bulbs from France arrived. The bulbs are now being prepared, and by the end of October they go to the our customers.

It is summer in the Netherlands! in this weather you want to go on holiday or relax on the beach. But here at Bot Flowerbulbs we have no time for that. This Saturday the first iris bulbs arrive from France. So there is plenty to do for us!

06-07-2012 Company closed all day!

This Friday 06-07-2012 our Company is closed all day. The road (Cornelis Kuinweg) in front of our company is closed in relation to road works. It is not possible to come nearby our company by car or truck. At Monday 09-07-2012 we are back in business! Sorry for the inconvience.

Iris bulbs from France

In late July we receiving the 1st Iris bulbs at Bot Flowerbulbs from the new crop from France. If they have arrived here they get a tempature treatment (preparation) After that preparation the Iris bulbs are shipped from Bot Flowerbulbs to the customer. Then the customer plants the iris bulbs according to the previously agreed planting schedule to get them ready for a certain prime harvest. We'll keep you informed.

Result Iris inspection

The results of the Iris Inspection is known. We have won the first prize in the Loire and the Buffalo. We are very pleased with the results.

Iris inspection today

Yesterday we put down six different varieties for inspection today. The six different varieties we put down are, Tigris, Buffalo, Rio Grande, Loire, Murray and Blue Nile. The inspection will take place today at 11:00
