Origin of the Lily



Lilies are plants of the northern hemisphere. In the wild they are found both in Asia, Europe and America. In northern countries such as Korea, Japan and parts of Siberia, but also near the equator, in India. In Europe, the lily native to the Caucasus, the Balkans, Greece, Poland, the Alps and the Pyrenees. In most states they come in the wild, except for the southwestern quarter.

The lily grows well at sea level and in higher elevations, above 3000 meters. In the latter case it is usually in small plants, up to 30 cm, with only one flower per stem. Some lilies have a wide range. Thus, L. for martagon of Siberia to the Balkans. L. regale other hand, was discovered in 1903 on the steep slopes of a remote valley in the Chinese province of Szechuan and is nothing else. At present there are approximately 100 different varieties are known.
